2nd International Workshop on Magnetic Particle Imaging
Lübeck, Germany | 2012, March 15 - 16
The second international Workshop on Magnetic Particle Imaging was held at the University of Lübeck from March 15-16, 2012. International top-class researchers from the innovative field of imaging methods met entrepreneurs from all over the world to present latest results and get information on current research trends.
As during the first workshop in the year 2010, professor Thorsten M. Buzug, director of the Institute of Medical Technology, chaired the conference. The workshop almost doubled both the number of participants and the number of scientific contributions. This year, 162 participants from 12 countries contributed to the success of the conference. Especially noteworthy was the high number of young researchers. Most important keynote speakers were the inventor of MPI, Bernhard Gleich (Philips), Steven Conolly (UC Berkeley) and Kannan Krishnan (University of Washington). Parallel to the preparation of the workshop, the German Research Council (DFG) had published a large-scale equipment initiative for the acquisition of a preclinical MPI scanner in Germany. Since the deadline was set for April 2, 2012, potential applicants for such a device were still able to inform themselves on the latest state-of-the-art of MPI research.
